How It Works
The love calculator scores name chemistry in up to three layers and blends them into one love percentage.
Letter match
It compares the unique letters in both names. The more letters the names share, relative to all the letters used, the higher this layer scores. Longer combined names add a small bonus.
FLAMES
Common letters are crossed out in pairs, and the leftover letters are counted. That count is used to strike letters from FLAMES until one remains: Friends, Lovers, Affectionate, Marriage, Enemies or Soulmates.
Destiny numbers (optional)
If you add both birthdates, each is reduced to a Life Path number and the pair is scored using a numerology compatibility chart.
What Is the Formula?

- FLAMES score: Soulmates 100, Marriage 95, Lovers 85, Affectionate 75, Friends 55, Enemies 25.
- Destiny: the Life Path pair score, from 40 to 95.
- The result is always kept between 1% and 99%.
Because the names only weights add up to 0.85, a names only result tops out at 85%. Adding birthdates lets the score climb higher.
FLAMES Result by Leftover Letters
After common letters are removed, the number of letters left decides the FLAMES outcome. This chart shows what the calculator returns for each count.

Enemies only appears with long name pairs, first at 21 leftover letters.
Worked Example
Let's test the names Emma and Oliver.
- Unique letters: Emma has e, m, a; Oliver has o, l, i, v, e, r. They share one letter (e) out of 8 unique letters, so J = 1 ÷ 8 = 0.125.
- Letter score: 70 × 0.125 + 30 × (10 ÷ 20) = 8.75 + 15 = 23.75, which rounds to 24.
- FLAMES: cross out one e from each name. The leftover letters are m, m, a and o, l, i, v, r (8 in total) which gives Friends (55).
- Love percentage: 0.40 × 24 + 0.45 × 55 = 9.6 + 24.75 = 34.35, or 34%.
Add birthdates of 14 May 1996 (Life Path 8) and 2 November 1995 (Life Path 1) and the 1 and 8 pair scores 75. The result becomes 0.35 × 24 + 0.40 × 55 + 0.25 × 75 ≈ 49%.
